Quote Painting

The quote painting is interesting, I am thinking it will be election time and there will be a lot to say. The kids will learn about, digitally altering images, mixing paint, the idea that edge is important and value matters more than color.
It is a great small project to get thinks on the wall, fast. It will take two weeks, to do. I made one in two hours so I know one hour = one week.
We will display this work in the entry way at HTH.

Ironic and humorous quote will be encouraged, hate speech is unexcitable, no lies. (Spin is lying)

What could you hide in a book?
This is a cool assignment because “The Book” is hiding something in side. What do books hide? When I made one I experimented with 6 different glues, the only one that worked well was Rabbit skin glue, I really hope that it is just called rabbit skin. And I used a Dremel router stand. This will take 2 weeks to make.
These books will be displayed in boxes on the wall, I have many different sizes, and I know how to make more.
Student will brain storm different concepts that can go into their book.
We will critique their Ideas in class. The students will make mock ups in Photoshop of their ideas, they will answer these questions.
1. Something disturbing
2. Something makes no sense
3. Something that shows repetition
4 Something that shows classicism
5 Something that shows mythology
6. Something that shows social injustice
7. Something that shows love
8. Something that shows desire
9. Something that shows how open minded you are.

Mini Kiosks with Video
I made this with a DVD player that my kids had, but we have many old laptops that will work, they need to make their DVD first. They (teams of 2)will have a deadline two weeks to make the finished DVD. Too much time wasted will kill this project. Then using graphics from the DVD they will make a Kiosk cover to sell their DVD, They will be placed around the school, near plugs.

The Subject of the work will be artists’ and their work, or a variation of this theme, maybe an art style, movement or theme within art.  I am going to say pick an artist and if the kids say, a writer or musician. I’ll determine if it is ok, I don’t want music videos, I want thoughtful artfulness

 

 
All of these projects will be compete two weeks before exhibition night. Each student will write a review of another students work, during the whole semester, they will be displayed exhibition night and on the web. It will be a critical view of a body of work.
